What is a Tummy Tuck?
Commonly known as the “Tummy Tuck“, Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure that targets the removal of excess fat and skin of the lower abdomen to slim the waistline, tighten and firm the abdomen region, and reposition the abdominal muscles and bellybutton to their respective positions.?
The Tummy Tuck is a common surgery for both men and women alike that have excess fat or loose skin left from losing weight. The Tummy Tuck procedure is also effective for women who have been left with excess skin, stretch marks, and stretched out abdomen muscles from pregnancy and child birth. However, this procedure is best performed after the mother is not expecting to become pregnant in the future as this is a cosmetic procedure but will not harm the mother or baby if pregnancy does happen after.

Recovery time varies from case to case. In some cases, people who have undergone an abdominoplasty can usually go back to work within two to three weeks. However, we advise against returning to high-impact activities for four to six weeks after the surgery.
Before & After results
When visiting Envi Plastic Surgery for your consultation, our doctors and staff will go over the procedure with you to clarify any questions you may have. Our doctors will then assess which procedure is best for you during the consultation since there are two forms of Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tucks) that we offer at Envi Plastic Surgery, the Traditional (Full) Tummy Tuck and the Mini Tummy Tuck.
Traditional (Full) Tummy Tuck
The most common Tummy Tuck procedure is the Traditional Tummy Tuck which addresses all three abdomen layers: skin, fat, and muscle. This procedure can achieve a more flat and firm appearance of the abdomen with a concealed scar that can be easily covered under most underwear and bathing suits. This procedure also requires an additional incision around the belly button to remove additional skin between the belly button and pubic region.
Each incision, while carefully concealed, may be offered for scar revision or reduction if there are any concerns.
Mini Tummy Tuck
The Mini Tummy Tuck is a simplified version of the Traditional Tummy Tuck that is recommended for patients with a minimal amount of excess skin and fat in the lower abdomen than needed for a Full Tummy Tuck. With this procedure being more simplified, the scarring is shorter than a Traditional Tummy Tuck, however, the results are more limited due to this as well.
We will provide a set of pre-operative instructions that describe the steps you need to take to prepare for surgery. This will cover things like activities, foods, and medications to avoid prior to surgery. It?s important that you familiarize yourself with and follow those instructions, and we also recommend arranging for a responsible adult to take you home after the surgery and stay with you the first night if necessary.
Before your procedure, you will meet with our doctors and?anesthesiologist to ask any last-minute questions. The Tummy Tuck procedure usually takes less than 3 hours. After the procedure, we will have you wait in our recovery room for 1-1.5 hours. After which you will be discharged to go home.
The recovery of your procedure will be outlined in a Post Operative List that will be sent home with you after your procedure. This Post Op List will cover which foods, activities, and medications to avoid to optimally recover after your procedure.
